The famous Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of the centerpieces of Kyoto and “old Japan”, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The 10,000 temple gates wind their way up the mountain path and are incredible to behold.

Many tea houses line the Higashiyama district alleyways and street.  So quaint, and vibrant especially after dark.

The incredible workmanship seen in many of the temples is particularly beautiful.

Kyoto is the heart of traditional Japan, with both men and women wearing traditional clothing.  This isn’t confined to the tourist areas either.  The kimonos are exquisite!

The Philosophers Walk in Kyoto, the path leads along a canal for some 2 km, and especially beautiful during Cherry Blossom season.
