During my trip around Australia I fell in love with exploring the many lighthouses that dot the coast. This one is in SW Western Australia at Cape Leeuwin, looking out over where the Great Southern Ocean and Indian Oceans meet.

Such beautiful iron work on the upper decking of the lighthouse.

Looking west out into the vast Indian Ocean, next stop South Africa some 8,328 kms distant with no land in between.

The lighthouse casts a huge shadow into the sounding scrub lands and rocks.

Memorial to the lost sailors aboard the HMAS Nizam who perished in these rough waters in 1945, as the ship was struck by a rogue wave.
